The Associated Press is reporting that former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger have been hospitalized after suffering a fall at his home in Manhattan.

The Long island-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center has stated that Kissinger is anticipated to be released from care later today. No other details were released about his condition. Kissinger is 89 years old.

Kissinger served because the secretary of state under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford from 1973 to 1977. He played a very important role inside the waning years of the Vietnam War and was sometimes consulted on foreign policy even after he left government work. In 1973 Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with regards to the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam. In subsequent years, calls were made to carry Kissinger answerable for U.S. policy in countries corresponding to Chile and East Timor during his tenure as secretary of state.

Kissinger and his wife, Nancy Maginnes, now live in Ny city and Kent, Connecticut.
